Vesna Pesic (b1984) Novi Sad,
Serbia
Vesna Pesic started making collages as part of an assignment during her
studies of graphic design at the Faculty of Art in Nis in Serbia, being
influenced by various artists on the internet at the same time.
For Vesna the attraction of collage lies in its unique potential of joining diverse media, like photos and drawings with wordplay. Thus she often tries to give her pieces an absurd character, while at the same time strictly denying a collage aesthetic per se.
Her work process can be described as spontaneous,
driven by a sudden urge to cut and paste. She prefers making collages
in the traditional way: cutting materials up, putting prepared elements
together, arranging and rearranging them in her own words “without
thinking too much about how to start or where to finish”.
